Farrah Abraham Using Ketamine

Updated: 2 days ago

Transcript: Well, I'm not personally familiar with Farrah Abraham or her doctor, but I do understand that she's had a hard time in life and was using ketamine to deal with some rage toward her parents. That’s an interesting use of ketamine. A ketamine experience can certainly help someone see things differently—it can shift your interpretation of a series of events and allow you to view them from a new perspective. In her case, perhaps a more forgiving perspective—one that helps her see her parents as human beings who sometimes make challenging choices. It may enable her to shift her relationship with that set of facts and find herself in a more positive relationship with it. Ideally, that shift reflects into her actual relationships.

As for treating patients with parental issues—yes, absolutely. Many of our patients have childhood wounds or unresolved issues with their parents. Inner child work, reparenting the inner child, healing the relationship with parents, and making peace with the past are all essential parts of what we do. It comes up quite frequently in our sessions.
